Mark Spector weighs in on the ongoing CBA negotiations. Among other things, he thinks the notion that “both sides are doing everything they can to avoid a lockout” is a myth. (Sportsnet)

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said on Thursday that the owners don’t plan to play next year under the current CBA, which is set to expire on Sept. 15. Tampa Bay’s B.J. Crombeen categorized that as “something you don’t want to hear,” but he still seems optimistic. (Tampa Bay Times)

Christian Hanson, who signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Boston Bruins, says it’s “do or die time” for him. He’s 26 and has played in 42 NHL games. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

If I was ken holland I would give Calgary jakub kindle, joey macdonald and a second round pick (2013) then go for bobby. Ryan and trad

  2. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 9:34 AM

If I was ken holland I would trade kindle, macdonald, and a second round pick for jay no

  3. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Jay bo* and then go for Ryan and trade nyquist, mursack, helm,1st round(201), 1st round (2014) (1st round (2015) for Ryan and perry

    • m1lla7 - Aug 10, 2012 at 9:54 AM

You’re an idiot. Corey Perry is a UFA next year.

      • polegojim - Aug 10, 2012 at 10:13 AM

M1 – we can’t wait til school starts and name calling attackers like you are back in JR High.

  4. polegojim - Aug 10, 2012 at 9:50 AM

Like it! Big body, LOTS of hockey left in those skates.

Bouwmeester can be up and down… -21 to +23.

The change of venue and opportunity will rejuvenate and bring out his best.

  5. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 10:22 AM

I’m not stupid buddy ik he is but the thing is he will sign with us again if Ryan stays he will stay.

    • hockinj25 - Aug 10, 2012 at 11:25 AM

But none of those trades you proposed are any good and you can’t spell Kindl.

  6. howardforvezina - Aug 10, 2012 at 10:38 AM

Helm is too important to trade. Ryan would be nice but it would not be smart to give away multiple players that are really good and promising prospects.

    • elvispocomo - Aug 10, 2012 at 1:31 PM

Helm’s a good player with an important role, no doubt, but if you think moving him and other depth players/prospects (plus picks) is a reason to not go after two of the big, upcoming superstars in this league when your team is doing nothing but getting older in the short-term future, then you might want to reconsider.

Not saying I like the deal, but that’s what it’d take to get those two, if not a little more. Anaheim probably doesn’t ask for Helm, but rather someone like Filpulla or a top prospect like Tatar/Jurco, but it’d absolutely be interesting for a team like Detroit with cap space and room to get younger/better.

Wow, Spec makes a lot of interesting points. I’d say that’s a must read for anyone who’s paying attention to the CBA negotiations. Maybe I’ll just have to get into a fantasy football league instead of hockey…

  8. redwingsfan999 - Aug 10, 2012 at 3:01 PM

I would look @ bouwmeester as a last resort type of thing I would much rather get Keith yandle but the thing that makes the wings really interested bouwmeester is that we won’t have 2 trade much 4 him just some prospects and picks. But no matter who we get on defense I still want Bobby ryan on offense. Franzen kindl nyquist and maybe throw in a draft pick, that should do it

    • atwatercrushesokoye - Aug 10, 2012 at 3:58 PM

For the role he plays on the Flames, I think the Wings will have to give up more than you think. He plays 27 minutes a game in all situations, is good defensively and a good skater and the Flames don’t have to trade him.

  9. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 4:32 PM

How about this wing aquire: bommester
Flames get:1st round (2013) jakub kindl nyquist and Joey macdonald
    Wings get:bobby Ryan
    Ducks get: abdelkader,cleary, 1st round (2014)
And are you happy I spelt kindl right god! Like spaz down I dont care if I spell a name

    • atwatercrushesokoye - Aug 10, 2012 at 5:41 PM

As a Flames fan I like that deal, although they don’t have much use for Joey McDonald at this point, but otherwise that seems like you’re giving up a lot. Meanwhile you’re not giving up nearly enough in the Anaheim trade, they could get way more than that for Bobby Ryan.

    • hockinj25 - Aug 10, 2012 at 8:19 PM

We can’t trade d men. I hope you never become a GM.

  10. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Then get Ryan and winnik and give anihiem bertuzzi as well I think the wings and ducks would be happy

    • atwatercrushesokoye - Aug 10, 2012 at 9:00 PM

Bertuzzi and Cleary have next to know trade value when it comes to getting a very good young player like Ryan. It’s going to cost multiple good young players (either NHL ready or just on the cusp) and draft picks, these are pieces that the Ducks can use to fill in around Perry and Getzlaf if they can resign them. They’re not going to want players in their mid to late thirties unless they were looking for the final piece or two to a Stanley Cup roster.

  11. wingsfan40 - Aug 10, 2012 at 8:32 PM

Who would you rather have buddy kindl or bommester? Like seriously and if Calgary gives up a d there gonn want a d back

    • hockinj25 - Aug 10, 2012 at 11:04 PM

We only have 6 d on the roster. The reason we need to trade for J-bo or Yandle is to get another d in case of injury.

True that true I forgot bout that
