There will be someone else to buy those season tickets if you don’t want them. This is like the democrats and the republicans, neither side wants to concede anything. They both need to compromise. 57% is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. I know the players are what attracts the fans, but there will always be players wanting to play. If the owners don’t make some kind of profit, another team will go bust and fold. Nobody in his right mind wants to own a business that is not making money. The NHLPA should realize this and compromise a little bit. With those huge contracts the players are signing, I’m sure it won’t kill them to concede a little.

Can’t make money if u don’t play so no season no profit. Get the act together and give us hockey. I am a season ticket holder and I don’t know if I will be if there is a strike.

The sticking point is profit sharing 57% holy cow man. When you have teams that are in danger of folding How can you share profits when there are none? Plus pay million dollar contracts over and above losing over half the money. The league could be using this money to keep these teams viable. No teams no NHLPA no contacts, no player millionaires. Stop whining your well paid for what you do. Just sign a fair agreement and let us working stiffs cheer and jeer while most of us go to our regular jobs and rob Peter to pay Paul to but tickets.

I’d still be surprised if we lost a whole season but the fact there is a track record for it happening still scares me. I always say never under estimate the stupidity of the NHL as far as business goes. Last time they locked out, the Pistons were defending a championship so that helped as a distraction. This year not so much. Winter is way too long and depressing with hockey, can’t imagine what this one will be like without it.

We know this.

But….

Bettman has the power to influence and put pressure on the owners to ensure that there’s a deal in place by 9/15 so we don’t lose a year of hockey.

He is also the public face of – and public representative for – the owner’s side during this fiasco. Hence, he is the one that malice will invariably be directed at by the fan base if we lose another year of hockey.

Man, Bettman’s a douche…..I really cannot survive another year without hockey. 2004-5 was absolutely AWFUL.

No matter what, a deal had better be in place by 9/15.
