Are you really taking issue with one of the best GMs in sport? Its a two way contract. There is no real risk here. It’s a signing of guy with upside potential, nothing more nothing less.

So with all sincerity I will thank Lou. He’s done a great job for Almost 3 decades.

This guy ain’t gonna stay in the big leagues. Let alone a top six. I remember back a couple years ago when Lou had a “secret weapon” that nobody knew about. Then suddenly, the NHL was introduced to a star that nobody knew much of before. The arrival of Ilkka Pikkarainen! Nobody knew much about him when he got here, and nobody wanted to know anything about him after he left.

But in all seriousness, I don’t know anything about Butler – but based on a few highlights I’ve seen on youtube, it looks like he has some skills.

Peter Deboer has shown he knows how to get the best out of his players, there were a lot of guys who came in last year that were exiled from other teams who found their place in his system, I think this could be another case of that happening with a relatively higher ceiling for performance.

Definitely a low-risk, high-reward situation – what’s not to like?

I’ll bet he finds his groove from the 10-11 season. Butler is a natural goal scorer and if he fits in with the NJD system he won’t disappoint
