Oh that’s right, you wouldn’t know this – but when your team wins their conference they get a trophy.

They’re about as worthless as an Olympic silver medal, but I guess when your team never wins anything you gotta take what you can get.

They haven’t played a single game yet, no one knows for sure if the team’s better or not, and that’s not just for the Wild that’s for all 30 teams. I would also point out the teams that “win” the offseason with big flashy signings aren’t generally the teams that win the Stanley Cup.

Don’t tell Wild fans that, they’re under the impression 2 players make the team like in the NBA, in reality the supporting cast around those two isn’t very deep or good. They finished 14 points out of the playoffs and 30 points out of first place in the division, will two good players make up that gap? I’m not so sure.

I guess I would count Olympic silver as winning if I were a fan of a team who has never been in the same building as the Stanley Cup – I guess that means losing in the Stanley Cup finals is winning too?

I’m pretty sure Olympic medals are winning something. As far as everyone saying Suter needs Weber to succeed, I’d go back and watch the Olympic games again. Suter is the defenseman who stood out, with Weber playing on Canada.

I figured some of the same grumpy losers would trash the Wild, but they are right about one thing — the Wild haven’t done anything yet. However, they are trying, and largely succeeding in those efforts to improve the team, while others, including the grumpsters’ teams, haven’t improved.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when a certain team signed the top two coveted free agents? Does Drury and Gomez ring a bell? Just how well did that work out?
Personally, I think the Rangers have won the off-season improvement battle. Out with three bottom tier players- bring in one of the better power forwards in the league, lose Prust, who stood up for his teammates, but spent most of the time playing with hurt hands, gain Halpern who is a good faceoff man, and bring in Kreider full time and hopefully a return of Michael Sauer.
Minnesota landed the two biggest fish, but they still have to share the pond with the rest of the remaining fish. The remaining fish in the Ranger’s pond are more ready to improve.
Should be fun to see how it all plays out for the Wild and the Rangers.

I can guarantee no one in MN thinks our team is a “gift from god.” Can you understand the fact that we are passionate and excited?? We signed to two top free agents this off season, what teams fans wouldn’t be excited.

Not saying he’s not gonna make the team, but we gotta see more consistency out of him. Otherwise we have Mark Parrish all over again.

Both teams publicly stated their top priority this off season was to keep these guys, even Brodeur said he was their backbone and a must re-sign. Clearly the fans (and their extensive hockey knowledge) of these teams are bitter about them leaving and feel as though they are justified to bash.

Bottom line, just give it up, no one in MN or any other hockey town cares to hear it anymore.

I don’t know, their dive last year after actually being in 1st place in the NHL two months into the season was historic. I know injuries played a part, but check out their record to December 10 (20-7-2), then after that date they went a stunning 15-29-9.

I don’t know if adding Parise and Suter gets them into the playoffs. Not in the highly-competitive Western Conference.

Praise isn’t much of a performer as soon as April rolls around. But I’ll be curious to see how the Wild play the first 2 months under Yao, and then the guy who replaces him for the remainder. There’s a small chance that Yao’s system will be able to incorporate Parise and Suter. Praise is more accustomed to coaching carousels as Suter is not. This could turn out to be great signings or disasters. At $200,000,000 there won’t be room for it to be “decent signings but needs a tweak”

The Wild will make the playoffs this year, as for seeding… who knows, anywhere from 3-8 is a possibility. All I know is that it is beyond refreshing to have our team in MN be relavant again but now its time to prove it on the ice. Go Wild – In Fletcher we Trust
