Gaborik “feeling good” after shoulder surgery

While the Rangers made headlines landing Rick Nash this summer, their other big scorer is feeling good after surgery.

Marian Gaborik spoke with Jim Cerny of Blueshirts United about how he’s doing following an operation on his shoulder this summer and the outlook is positive.

“I feel good,” said Gaborik, who will continue his rehab back home in Slovakia at the end of this week-long stay in New York. “I have been working hard in terms of rehab. Things are going as they should be, so I am happy with the progress.”

On the upside for the Rangers, Gaborik is experienced at recovering from injuries at this point in his career. Wild fans will tell you (at length) about their frustrations with his ability to get hurt at inconvenient times.

In this case, Gaborik played through injury in their Eastern Conference finals loss to the Devils. It’s believed he’ll be out until December recovering from surgery, so until then it’s all on Nash to keep the Rangers’ offense going.

Rick Nash is gonna crash and burn going from one atmosphere like Ohio to the one’s he’s about to face in NYC

    • bigpara - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:30 PM

Haters are fun to laugh at.

      • georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:34 PM

in order to be hated you need to be significant first, follow?

  2. jkay1818 - Aug 7, 2012 at 6:19 PM

You’re right, going from a last place team with no support to a young up and coming team with depth, with competent guys that can pass him the puck.

  3. georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 6:58 PM

Last year’s Reg. Season Eastern Conference Title was a fluke and everyone knows it … crash n burn time Torts.

    • rangersatl - Aug 7, 2012 at 10:02 PM

      Upset at something lol

    • bigpara - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:31 PM

Another clueless comment from this person.

  4. martysbetter - Aug 7, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Out until December so that means he’ll get 4 solid months in before he disappears again for the playoffs.

    • jkay1818 - Aug 7, 2012 at 7:45 PM

I’m sure a torn labrum and a mangled shoulder which required major surgery had nothing to do with that, and his “disappearing” act. The shoulder he hurt during the playoffs. The good news is hell be back in dec, unlike your captain who left you high and dry. Have fun clawing your way into the playoffs this yr.

      • martysbetter - Aug 7, 2012 at 9:21 PM

Take that sad story and tell it to Kovy, still managed to lead scoring in the playoffs with a herniated disc.

Hope Nash doesn’t decide to not block a shot, Torts might just sit him on the while you guys get beat in OT in a playoff game just like Gaborik!

        Solid coaching Torts!

      • anthonykornheiser - Aug 7, 2012 at 9:29 PM

SOLID OWNERSHIP! pay back your loans and debts every yr. your team is a financial mess.

      • martysbetter - Aug 7, 2012 at 10:50 PM

I cheer for the product on the ice, not the asshole who owns the team.

  5. jacketsfan7 - Aug 7, 2012 at 7:24 PM

    That’s what they all say

  6. jaredo10 - Aug 7, 2012 at 8:01 PM

    take your time gabby.
    kreider will fill your void
    and then some

  7. georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 8:38 PM

lol @ Kreider filling Gabby’s void, the kid will get figured out over the long grind of a Regular Season. He came in fresh and rested and unknown in the Playoffs and scored a few “oh here look what I found goals” and everyone in the rotten apple is popping a woody over the kid.

    • richter35lundqvist30 - Aug 8, 2012 at 12:38 PM

You clearly didn’t watch those games some of his goals were individual efforts. Just curious are you a Jets fan now Georgia?

  8. cameltoews - Aug 7, 2012 at 9:48 PM

@georgia. You are an absolute idiot if you think the rangers last season was a fluke. I would love to know who you follow. Nash is going to fit in perfect with the rangers style and they only have the best D corps and goalie in the league. But, yeah you are right have one of the best defenses will not win you the reg season eastern conference and take you within 2 games of the Stanley cup finals. You should go back and look at kreiders goals you moron. None were oh looky here an easy tap in. How can fans not be excited for young up and coming talent? That’s what being a fan is. Being happy about your team having young exciting players. And you better believe we are gettin as you said “hardons” for kreider bc the rangers are finally drafting right and building within rather than going after every old free agent like they used to. So I guess whoever you like you hate all of your prospects and all of them will get figured out so why get excited right.

    • rangersatl - Aug 7, 2012 at 10:05 PM

I think he is a jets fan

  9. cameltoews - Aug 7, 2012 at 10:32 PM

Its just a dumb statement saying the rangers are a fluke. I’m not going to lie I got a little upset haha

  10. georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 10:40 PM

The best Goalie in the League that’s both
    A) never even led his team to the Finals before and most likely will burn out before that ever happens

    and
    B) maybe one of the best Goalies ever to wind up never winning s SC , besides Hextall and CUJO ??

Gimme a break Rags fans, you have one cup in 73 years , not even the best and most prolific Media outlets all throughout the US and Canada predicted the Rangers we’re going to finish first in the Conference last season.. get off your high horses , Nash will be lucky to be a 60 point guy who will easily take at least a year to get accustomed to playing in a high pressure market with expectations .

I predict maybe 4th or 5th for you guys . You didnt lose anybody huge points wise in your rades but you lost a huge character presence Prust and Dubinsky in favor of that slug Asham

  11. cameltoews - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:11 PM

That comment has no relevance right now. Henrik still has another 8 years if not more of hockey in him barring any major injuries. 6 of those prob still on top of his game. So saying he hasnt led him team to a cup yet yeah maybe true right now but they are plenty of years for him to do that. Second I never once mentioned anything about Stanley cups so that’s just stupid. But not recognizes that the rangers are a team that will be contending for the upcoming season on beyond is just nieve. Plus I would be happy with a 4th plAce finish. The pens were 4th this year and still a great team so yeah makes no sense again.

    • anthonykornheiser - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:35 PM

hes a flyers fan, take what he is saying with a grain of salt. he understands and enjoys a different style of hockey, thats why the rangers beat then 6-0 this season and absolutely shredded them in every matchup. They are far superior on defense, they are a much more physical team and overall more balanced. he can talk all he wants about offense, but that never wins cups.
It’s also comical that he’s all bent out of shape about krieder when all they do is talk about how “couts” and schenn are the next coming of jesus christ. he’s a bitter whiney person who cant resist trolling on rangers threads. they have their parade for the eagles and flyers every offseason and then they start with the excuses, and then when the season ends they jump on their high horses again. they are a joke of a city.

    • georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:38 PM

And you’re looking through who’s crystal ball when you make this prediction? , lemme educate on something here Sally, it’s much easier for me to sit here behind the keyboard and predict that ya’ll are NOT SC contenders, and most likely be spot on correct then it is for you to predict that a goalie who by the years end averages nearly 80 games played if not more will not wear out and still easily have another 6-8 years of shelf life .
Richards is getting old and slow , you’re gonna need Callahan and Stephan to come up huge this year in order to be a contender .

      • anthonykornheiser - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:48 PM

who says sally? speaking of old, youll need a big season from briere and hartnell will have to duplicate what he did last season. “sally” and its stepan, not stephan. Rangers have more than enough depth than to only rely on those two.
You’re a country bumpkin dirtbag who doesnt make sense, just like your “yandle jew ” comment on another thread. You cant be taken seriously.

  12. cameltoews - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:14 PM

Oh and every news media outlet now talks about the rangers being a contender now and years to come so there’s that too. I am by no means declaring the rangers beat team in the league or saying other teams suck but you denying the rangers are serious cup contenders is like I said earlier dumb.

  13. georgia166 - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:44 PM

Anthony.. I’m not a Flyers fan per say I’m a fan of the sport. Notice how all the NY fans must bring up a team that has zero importance in this equation , the Eagles… in which I could care less about . I’m from GA , why the heck do I care about the Eagles? stick to hockey kid. … and those games vs Rangers-Philly last year , most of them could have gone either way… Even with all the setbacks and injuries the Flyers have endured, they are still loaded and dangerous . Oh and I cant stand the Schenns, either one of those sisters actually.

    • richter35lundqvist30 - Aug 8, 2012 at 12:42 PM

But they didnt go either way, they went the Rangers’ way. 6-0 is 6-0 no matter which way you spin it.

  14. anthonykornheiser - Aug 7, 2012 at 11:50 PM

i only know hockey, youre right. youre a good ole georgia boy, howd that falcons and matty ice do at giants stadium in the playoffs last season?
and no, those ranger vs flyer games couldnt have gone either way with maybe the exception of the winter classic. flyers were destroyed by NY last season. hits, scoring…etc

  15. jkay1818 - Aug 8, 2012 at 12:04 AM

Actually, those ranger flyer games weren’t close at all, to the comments above me.
Rangers doubled them in goals and it wasn’t due to an 8-1 game, it was a consistent 5-2 bashing with some shutouts sprinkled in. Even more alarming, the hits were about 4:1. Just a way more physically imposing team.

  16. biffnasty - Aug 8, 2012 at 8:08 AM

he needed the shoulder surgery bc he will be lifting the stanley cup next year

  17. cameltoews - Aug 8, 2012 at 1:25 PM

Don’t even bother trying to get through to him. He’s been shot down in every thread he has tried to troll in.
