1) They’ve been rebuilding. 2) They CBA expiring was in the foreseeable future. Look, as rough as it has been to be an Avs fan for a while, they’re going to look like geniuses if there are serious concessions in the way of the PA’s revenue share which could dramatically affect the salary cap. The players aren’t going to give in to a 10-12% revenue share reduction, but a 5-7% cut is possible and there are a lot of teams who are going to have to make changes to work around that, and the Avs won’t be one of them.

As far as Joe Sacco being on the hot seat – definitely. The Avs are notorious for promoting within, and it’s by no coincidence David Quinn is now an assistant coach and next in line if Sacco can’t take this team to the next level.

If the Avs start off another season with a flat effort, he should be gone by Thanksgiving.
