What exactly do you mean by “committed to winning?” The Sharks are the second most winningest team in the league post lockout, behind the red wings. That’s not bad. Better than Vancouver for sure.

in the dog days of summer for us hockey fans, I appreciate reading about a class act hockey player who is in his twilight years. someone should follow him around like 24/7 does and put this saga on tv. probably be better than 80% of what’s already airing. right?? who’s with me!

The 7.5 Million was floated as a rumor. Me thinks he will sign for around 6 mil with Vancouver, a team unlike the Sharks committed to winning. Hell Wilson gave a 39 year old washed up Rob Blake 5 mil a year so why not give Doan 6+.

I mean really? San Jose is gonna cough up 7.5 mil a year for an all-star caliber player, and they’re gonna come up just one year short out of four? They’re really caught up on that one year, after paying for three? They’re just showing that he’s not calling the shots. That’s all this means.

This whole Doan thing is so stupid. Basically, he’s publicly said that if the Coyotes are bought he’ll stay. Why would any team in the league give him his outrageous demands then? If the Coyotes become more stable financially, he’s going to stay! If they don’t, he’ll leave and other teams and they will know that, so why on Earth give him all 7.5 mil and 4 years when they know they probably won’t have to if he really wants out of Phoenix?

Tavares’ cap hit for the next 6 years is 5.5. Doan has never even had as many points as Tavares had at age 21: 81 pts. One is likely about to break into superstar status, while the other is about to fall fast from being a mere star…he’s 35 years old!

That’s exactly what I’d give him if I were Wilson. He’s not even close to 7.5 mil a year, hell parise’s cap hit is 7.58
