He’s looking at what is more than likely his last contract, this is not time to risk 2012/2013 dollars based on next years performance (or injury) … he wants, and deserves, to get a final solid contract that works for his professional goals as well as what works best for his family.

Considering there’s still question marks on whether or not the potential owners even have enough captial for working expenses … there is zero stability in Phoenix for a player in Doans position.

Doaner: just sign a one year deal for 5-7 mil with the Coyotes and worry about a 2-3yr deal next offseason. Then this matter will be closed and ur kids get to stay at their current schools.

I wish all the teams interested would get together and tell him you have until this date decide or there will be no offer. He is holding teams hostage, not worth what he is asking and the story is stale and old now. Stay with Phoenix, who cares good luck in winning there.

At this point in time it’s 100% clear Phoenix will NOT move for next season. I mean: how could they do that logistically?
So sign already with your preferred franchise. Or are they simply not offering the 4×7,5 your agent is dreaming of?

I have to imagine that this rubs at least one or two interested parties the wrong way with Doan publicly stating over and over how he really just wants to return to Phoenix and, reading through the lines, anywhere else is a fall back strategy and 2nd choice.

Not sure I would be too keen on ponying up the rumoured term and millions of dollars for a guy who’s heart is in Phoenix and is nearing retirement.
