Yes friends, that pretty much sums it up. Like me, everyone else saw what happened with their own two eyes and therefore there’s no need to harp on about what we already know … the LA Kings are “scary” good and they’re “best” team in the world today !

I like the kings a lot, they have a strong young team and while most other big teams took decent drops in depth or skill, the kings remain the same. I think they can be contenders for years to come, but to be as hot as they were for the playoffs again would be damn near impossible, they were crazy hot… Like I could melt the sun hot… Okay that didn’t make any sense but they were on fire

As I noted below, it was much longer than that. The run really started on February 25, so it is closer to 3½ MONTHS of great hockey.

That is not just “getting hot.” That is a consistently high level of play. If they can do that for an entire regular season, that will definitely get them into the top 3 in the West…maybe even the no. 1 spot.

The Kings have a legitimate shot to repeat. The team is unchanged from last year and under Sutter AND in their last 41 games (21 in the last quarter of the season, 20 in the playoffs) they went 29-9-3.

Those numbers are staggering, and considering their poor offensive output BEFORE that run, truly remarkable. I think most people have already forgotten those miserable 1-0 wins and losses, as the Kings’ offense finally woke up in those last 41 games, averaging over 2.81 goals per game.

Absent any “Stanley Cup hangover,” this team should be a top 3 finisher in the West, and they should win their division.

The Kings played great hockey for six straight weeks.

And winning the Cup means they are eliminated from consideration this year no matter who they have on the ice come April.

But that means that maybe 10 other teams have a realistic shot.
