Not my point. I just think for a “super star” type skill set, that playing against Canadian juniors would be better exposure to the grit and nastiness he will face in pro hockey as opposed to the American route. Not a knock on American hockey or the NCAA route, I am a big fan and impressed every year. I was just stating how I think CHL would be better exposure to all aspects of hockey for a player like this. Obviously I might be totally wrong but was just stating my opinion. And I do think him going to Providence is a great step up in competition that he needs. Wasn’t trying to knock the College route though.

I think this kid needs to play against CHL toughness or his playing style will be in for a rude awakening at the pro level. Tons of skill but what serious competition has he faced?

Still the most puzzling draft pick I’ve seen in years. I don’t believe anyone would have anticipated the pick. You can look at anyone playing in high school hockey and there are players who are clearly dominant…few of those even play juniors or college. haha Calgary sees a high school player play a dominant game in a high school league and predict he’s an NHL player? Hmmm….we will find out I guess. But my money is on him never making it to the NHL or not doing anything if he does. Then again, I’ve only seen a handful of highlights with the kid and they weren’t that impressive.
