Because "making money" is not the same as value. Every sports major sports franchise has value, even if they are losing money. The Coyotes probably lose the most money as a team in the league but they still have value. Once Crosby and Malkin are gone or retired or the team starts going down hill, the Pens fans will run and hide and the franchise will be on the brink of going belly up again. This isn't an attack on the Penguins, just fact.

@chazxcore

I don't know how you're defining "making money," but the Penguins were 9th in the league according to Forbes most valuable teams list in 2010 . True, the Rangers and the Flyers came in higher than the Pens (2nd and 6th, respectively), but to be in the upper-third isn't bad at all, especially given that the Pens play in a much smaller metro area relative to the Flyers and Rangers (the Pens had a much higher revenue / fan ratio -- $39 -- than either the Flyers -- $20 -- or the Rangers -- $24).

That said, I do love a good cheesesteak.

The article on the Kings is literally one of the worst written things I've ever read. That was one of the best runs of all time and because of that he's got a point that they'd be hard to beat by any team ....but having said that;

The 2011 Bruins - kills the Kings.
The 2010 Blackhawks - kills the Kings.
The 2009 Penguins - kills the Kings.
The 2008 Wings - kills the Kings.

(did I just compliment the Bruins and 'Hawks!? ....gad I'm gonna go puke )

I seriously doubt that it's an aids infested city. Unless you have some sort of CDC documentation to back up that claim. I am pretty sure that their aids issues are probably just about the same as any other major city. But now that aids seems to be on the track of being curable, I don't many cities will be aids infested in the next 10-15 years.

If you nuked, it would take quite a huge bomb and the fallout from that would most likely affect (depending on the air current) Washington DC, New York City and maybe even Pittsburgh. Not to mention the economic impact it would have on the entire country. Basically a huge portion of the busiest areas of the nation would be gone and uninhabitable and would absolutely cripple the economy as well as the NHL. Especially since teams like Penguins don't make any money unlike the Rangers and Flyers.

Also, it is a proven fact that cheese steaks do not suck.
