Joakim Noah defends Patrick Kane: “What happens in the club stays in the club”

Jul 28, 2012, 2:19 PM EDT

Patrick Kane

Recently, Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah sat down with ESPN’s Michele Steele to talk about a variety of things: his hair, what languages he speaks, his summer vacation and his top three Chicago athletes.

On that last topic, Noah expressed some love for his good friend Patrick Kane.

“I gotta show my guy some love — Pat Kane,” Noah said. “That’s my dude. You gotta show him love. You guys are on him — leave my guy alone.

“He’s a young guy and he made you guys so happy when he won the championship…and now you guys see a couple pictures on the Internet and you guys are all over him.

“What happens in the club stays in the club, Chicago. Stop taking pictures, trying to criminalize your players and stuff like that. Pat Kane, you my guy — shout out to Patrick Kane.”

  2. aklolzer - Jul 28, 2012 at 2:36 PM

noah should shut his mouth and cut his hair. kane was in the middle of the street, not in a ‘club”. I don’t blame kane one bit, pretty sure we’ve all been there.

    Typical NCAA star mentality
Don’t be a rat and ignore anything us the privileged few do

    Noah is just another idiot

  5. dayno66 - Jul 28, 2012 at 2:45 PM

Yeah cause only the privileged few drink too much and get a bit rowdy. You idiots need to get off your high horse and look in the mirror.

    • theawesomersfranchise - Jul 28, 2012 at 3:57 PM

Yes I know!! Me on my high horse thinking assaulting an elderly person is a shameful act, while you call it “getting a bit rowdy”….

      • theawesomersfranchise - Jul 28, 2012 at 4:03 PM

2nd Degree Robbery – Boys will be boys, nothing to see here
4th Degree Criminal Mischief – Just having a few drinks, getting lil rowdy, you know how it is….

But hey get off his back, he is a athlete and therefore any time he is out being an idiot, you would be better served ignoring it and helping cover up that problem.

Lemme check my mirror….Hmmm lots of days and nights drinking and partying….yet never punched a old man driving cab in the face.

Why does noah talk like he is a thug?

    • stakex - Jul 28, 2012 at 7:05 PM

    Much Ado About Nothing

I agree with the commenter above about us “all being there” at some point. Nonetheless, the Hawks had better get it together this year. They’re an excellent team team, captained by a terrific player in the form Toews and they’re “lethal” in every position except goal, which begs the question … why haven’t they gone after the 4th best goaltender in the league today ? He’s available, he can be had for a fraction of Luongo’s cost and he would put the Hawk’s right back into the WCF next year, no questions asked ! Perhaps though they will come to their senses and sign him before long ? … at least that’s what I’d be hoping for if I were a Hawk’s fan ! :)

Top ranked goalies in the NHL today:

    1) Quick
    2) Schneider
    3) Price
    4) Bernier
    5) Rask …

    28) Kiprusoff
    29) Thomas
    30 Luongo

    • schlitzy - Jul 28, 2012 at 6:13 PM

you have to be joking with that list!!
Henrik Lundqvist has to be in the top 3. (or even #1 considering he did win the vezina)
even most knowledgeable hockey fans who hate the Rangers would agree.

i’ll give you Quick at #1 though because we all know you’re the Kings super fan.

but Bernier, Schneider, and Rask over Pekka Rinne (vezina finalist 2 straight years as voted on by people who actually KNOW hockey)?!?!
as promising as these guys may be, they have yet to prove they can perform at the highest level over the course of an entire NHL season as the #1 guy.
your list is nonsense…try at least a little bit of objectivity.

      • kitshky - Jul 29, 2012 at 6:12 PM

I wouldn’t get too worked up about this list, blomfeld doesnt think much past slagging Luongo … that whole comment was basically just to put him at 30th.

  8. mrpigs - Jul 28, 2012 at 4:15 PM

Did u really just make a goalie list with no King Henrik??? I hope some drops the vez on your face!

    • artvandelay0 - Jul 28, 2012 at 4:27 PM

What exactly is Henrik the King of?

      • gibbstastic - Jul 28, 2012 at 5:28 PM

  9. mrpigs - Jul 28, 2012 at 4:35 PM

Ohhh idk maybe the king of all those goalies on that joke of list besides quick. I threw up in my mouth when I saw Carey Price on that list. It’s my understanding that Henrik did win the best goalie award last year correct?!

    Broadway and much of nyc

  11. lostpuppysyndrome - Jul 28, 2012 at 6:22 PM

Sounds like Joakim Noah is a bit of a dingus mcgoo himself.

  12. stakex - Jul 28, 2012 at 7:17 PM

Yes, because when the perception of you is that of an over partying drunk…. you want people like Joakim Noah coming to your defense. Thats really going to help the image.

Now we can debate all day if what Kane did is wrong. Sure a lot of people his age are doing the same thing… but a lot of people his age are not contracted NHL players being paid millions of dollars a year. So just because you might go out and make a drunken fool of yourself every weekend, doesn’t mean its ok for a guy like Kane. When someone is paying you millions of dollars, they have a say about how you maintain your image since your actions reflect on them.

But hey, if Kane wants to be a drunk and not be harrased for it…. he can always retire from the NHL.

  13. bcjim - Jul 28, 2012 at 8:53 PM

Most dumb athletes would be far better off of they sewed their lips shut.

  14. dayno66 - Jul 28, 2012 at 11:08 PM

Kane will continue to get multi million dollar contracts despite any off ice drunkenness because he’s an amazing hockey player. Its called supply and demand. And crying and whining won’t change that. Too bad.

Rule #1: You don not talk about Drunk Club
Rule #2: You DO NOT talk about Drunk Club

If Kane saw Noah in the club he just may choke her.
