I think it’ll all depend on Iginla, they’ll talk to him before the season to see what kind of contract he wants, assuming he wants to keep playing past this year, as long as he’s here I don’t see the owners/management rebuilding, but if he were to be traded or leave via free agency then yeah that’ll be when the fire sale and rebuild starts in my opinion.

I think they’re better (on paper) than last year, the key will be a good start and not playing horribly for a month to month and a half in Nov/Dec like they have the past few seasons.

Karlsson’s got one year left on his contract so he won’t be around long, I’m sure they’d move him for a pick right now if there were any takers. It’s hard to imagine this team without Kipper, but he’s in his mid 30′s so Calgary needs to start that transition. Not too familiar with Brossoit, is that the Oil Kings goalie?

Irving and Laurent brossoit are the future for Calgary’s goaltending if they ever get rid of karlsson and kiprusoff

This is the make or break year for Irving, in camp either he or Karlsson needs to step up and grab the backup job because Kipper can’t play 70+ games again. Its fairly obvious the Flames want it to be Irving though, late last season Karlsson would backup in games that Kipper started but in any game where they wanted to start a backup they would call up Irving to do so.
