I mean no disrespect, but who said that next year’s FA class will be any better than this year’s draft class? Many players that are supposed to come up for free agency next year could easily sign long-term or very long-term contracts with their current teams.

I’ve read a number of articles saying this year’s FA class was so horrible because teams locked up their top talent to long-term deals before they become UFAs. If the trend continues, who knows who will be available?

Detroit is focusing on their own business plan and not conforming to the market or over-extending. This is what makes them such a great organization.

They draft, develop, sign, and trade according to their own values and principles.

In my opinion, they are going to rely on their stars and give the next generation a chance to make a big step and save money for next year’s FA class.

And oh yes let that be a lesson to every PHT blogger here as well.
All of you constantly interjected the notion that Semin might be a Red Wing, that there may be some interest, and there never was any interested from the Wings. It should have been obvious, there should have been articles pointing out all the reasons why is was never going to happen. Because it never was, not even close. I’d like to think you all know Kenny Holland since he is the best, and that all of yas would have seen that Semin and the Wings were like Oil and Water.

I would really like to understand what Kenny is thinking. Not to say passing on semin was a bad move but he would have added value for a one year, not spending 7mm on him though. My only thoughts are he is preping for a deal for Bobby Ryan, waiting to see how the CBA works out, or waiting to spend on next years UFA’s. He hasn’t made a big splash by any means this summer and i have confidence in him but seriously what are you thinking Kenny caus we are going to struggle to make the playoffs with the lineup we have.
