There was a published report that the Oilers had been rebuffed by Garth Snow in a bid to obtain Mark Streit. My guess is that Gagner–a close FOJT–was part of the offer. EDM likely is not done shopping for a top D & we’ll likely see more action after the CBA is set.

Think he could be a bargaining chip for some veteran defensive experience this year? I’m sure some other team would be happy to take a chance on Gagner for an older defenseman. Maybe even some veteran O would help this team.

I though they might at least sign him to a two year deal so it might be easier to trade him for a defenseman.

The Oilers are really stacking their offensive corps. Hopefully it will pan out for them but I don’t see a Crosby or a Malkin there, just a bunch of really good players. Players who will one day want to get paid big bucks so for the sake of this team, I hope they start winning soon or else they will be in a vicious circle where guys start wanting out of there so they can be on a winner (or be closer to their daddy & mommy like Zac Parise), and the Oil keeps perpetually rebuilding.
