Patrick Kane admits trade rumors caused “concern”

During the Chicago Blackhawks convention, Patrick Kane admitted embarrassment regarding off-ice incidents but denied talk of a drinking problem. Kane still apologized for his actions, yet he told Brian Hedger that occasional trade rumors do bother him.

“You hear a lot of rumors and there’s obviously concern when you hear rumors. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t,” Kane said.

Either way, the people around him are lending their support. Blackhawks players such as Patrick Sharp and head coach Joel Quenneville were empathic in backing up Kane during the convention.

“I’m sure he’s been through the lecture process about how he could pick his spots a little better and be a little smarter,” Sharp said. “It doesn’t take away from the fact he’s a great kid and comes from a great family. I’m going to support him no matter.”

Duncan Keith provided an interesting take on the added scrutiny Kane attracts after a few run-ins.

“It’s almost like it’s the thing to do now is to see him out, take pictures and follow him around with a video camera,” Keith said.

If the Hawks want to trade him, do it now before it’s common knowledge that he’s overrated. 66 points from a one-way player? No thanks.

He’s right there with Kessel as most useless without the puck “star” of the NHL. Finishes a check once every 4 games. He’s right there with each of the Sedin’s in giving/finishes checks. His linemates are constantly covering for him because he lets his man do whatever.

Rarely finishes a check? Line mates are constantly covering for him? Just add that he cant finish anything he starts and it sounds like we got us the second coming of Sidney Crosby…

Crosby finishes checks at the rate of 1 a game I believe, nothing amazing but still much better than Kane.

Bottom line: It’s time for Kane to realize that when he signed up for the occupation in the limelight and took the money, his freedom to party it up like alot of people in their early twenties went away.

Fair or not, it’s just the way it is.

Yeah that makes sense trade him. While your at it Bowman just gut the roster.

If Kane’s not in denial, he may not “have a problem” in the alcoholic sense, but he’s certainly abusing it and then definitely getting into a lot of hot water. Obviously this doesn’t help him at all, and this trade stuff might be a good wake-up call.

I like watching him play. But I agree that he is a bit like Kessel and his act would wear thin in many other cities as Kessel’s did in Boston.

Well look at the roster that is behind Kessel. It’s a nightmare.

Hes more than welcome to play for his hometown team. We’ll just give Chicago Thomas Vanek. Sounds fair to me
