It’s not that it’s not their style, see Tyler Meyers. I do think Girgensons is more likely to make the team coming out of camp, as he can fit as a 3rd or 4th line center and still contribute.

Grigorenko however is wasted if he’s not playing on the first or second line; I don’t want to see them put him into a checking role. Until he’s ready for a scoring line, keep him in Juniors.

He’ll get his 9 games (less if he’s bad) and go back to Quebec. Just not Buffalo’s m.o. when it comes to Junior eligible players to do anything but let them develop. Girgensons looks to be a bit more poised to take a 3rd line center role out of camp.

Very similar path to Couturier.

Big, talented center who is considered possible #1 pick, falls down the ranks for whatever reason, falling into the lap of a pretty good team…leading to teams regretting passing on him when he starts making an impact.

And in saying that I will fully admit that when he fell to 11 then 12 I was praying the Flames would trade up and pick him because I think he’s gonna be a star.

I think this is the biggest boom or bust pick from the draft. I could see him being Mogilny 2.0 if he wants to be but I could just as easily see him being Krutov 2.0, it’ll be fun to watch which way he goes.
