We were second in goals last year because we had 5+ guys with 20+ goals scored, and a few role players who managed to put in 10+. But that’s a nebulous stat you are using. It doesn’t account for us piling on when facing weak teams and going scoreless or nearly scoreless against strong defensive/goaltending teams. How many goals did we score against the Rangers over the last 2 seasons?

If you want to get deep in the playoffs, you’ve got to beat those strong teams – not pile on the goals against the Senators and Sabres. Its not the number of goals that matters. Its the when and the where of the goals that are scored, or the lack thereof. It wasn’t just a fluke of timing that drowned us. It was lack of finishing and lack of net-front presence in the face of teams with a solid defense.

I hope this is just a bargaining ploy by Chiarelli to bring the Ducks to their senses about what the surrounding pieces of a deal are going to be. We need the Ryan deal as much as they need it. Rask, Seguin and/or Hamilton are not ever going to be part of a deal for Ryan. But in addition to Krejci, we could add some very nice pieces, like Jared Knight or Ryan Spooner (note: personally, I believe Spooner is going to be fantastic and would hate to give him up), and maybe a second round pick, all of which would make it a real good value/return for the Ducks.

I would trade Krejci is a heartbeat for Ryan. It just depends on what other pcs they would want with Krejci. I have soured on Krejci, he disappears for way too long. For the money he makes he needs to be more consistent.

Lucic would be basically untouchable, I think he sets the tone for the team.

thats why we were 2nd in goals last year? everyteam goes through offensive funks. Ours happened at the wrong time last year the same way we got hot at the right time. I think we have the offensive weapons. Seguin is an elite scorer lucic horton marchand also can all put the puck in the net.

How I wish we had a GM with the balls of Holmgren. Krejci, plus a couple of lesser moving parts (maybe a role player and a pick), for Ryan is a deal that Chiarelli simply has to do. The B’s lack a serious finisher and have virtually no one to present that critical net-front presence. Ryan fits that bill to a perfect “T.” You have to give something of value to get something of value, and standing pat is not a legitimate option. This is not the same roster we won the Cup with. I would never even engage on Nash, no doubt. But I would stay engaged on Ryan and would make something work.

Racism isn’t the only kind of bias hate in this world, and to think it is makes you blind. A language issue? They have these things called “translators” in this world, so it shouldn’t matter what language the guy speaks. It was that the guy was a foreigner, and some people didn’t like that.

You missed the point though, there is hate everywhere… and you can’t label an entire group of fans based on a couple people and their actions. Just like I’m sure not all Montreal fans are xenophobic.

The report says that the Bs are no longer in on these two players but that they had explored the possibility of making these moves, as any GM would. At some point, you have to move on and make a statement that you aren’t going to actively pursue someone…remove yourself from the circus that it is. Let your team relax and prepare for the season. However, nobody on Nash’s list is ‘out’ of the running, at this point. He is going to be traded somewhere and eventually Howson will make it happen. It is really up to him though. Most teams have probably made their offers and if CBJ wants to pull this off, the ball is in their court. Who knows what the eventual Nash trade will do with regards to other players, like Ryan.

I wouldn’t give up Lucic for any of the players on the market either. I don’t think the bruins would be the same without Lucic. It’s a shame they’re missing Horton for so long. I love watching those 2 play.

Starting to get a little frustrated with Chiarelli here. I could care less about Nash but not in on the Bobby Ryan sweepstakes? Ryan is a proven commodity that plays well in every aspect of the game. I would gladly trade Krejci+ for Ryan. Krejci is a stud when he tries but sadly he doesn’t show that effort on a consistent enough basis.
