I just dont get why the owners would want to put half the league over the already agreed to cap. That just doesnt make any sense at all. I got a feeling initial offer was either false or we werent getting all the information.

After the first lockout, I kept my tickets…partly because they were so cheap. For the last couple seasons, I’ve just gone to playoff games or a couple random regular season games, it’s great to save the dough. The tickets are double what they cost after the lockout, and beers and food and everything else are way up too. F the owners.

If they play, HD with a DVR is better than going. If they lockout, I’ll watch the NBA…ha, nah, won’t be doing that.

Ludicrous is the term. I was pro owner in the nfl and nba but not here. Nhl players work far harder and longer imo, esp those that make the playoffs. Cutting the cap to 52m or whatever? Seriously?

I do actually think that the nhl has the most devoted fan base though and most of us will be back in 0.1 seconds, no matter how long the stoppage might be. I mean, lets be honest here.

Despite the somewhat ludicrous first offer that has been reported by the owners, us fans still should have optimism that their is a season. My reasoning is, unlike the nfl and nba cba, the relationship between the nhl and nhlpa hasnt become toxic. I usually side with the non union side, but if that first offer was factual….it pains me to say it but im pro union

Let’s all hope that things do get worked out. We as fans all want the season to start on time because we want to watch and enjoy the sport we love. However, the fact of the matter is that the NHL simply cannot afford to lose another season. If there is another lockout, imagine how many fans (and thus revenue from ticket sales, etc.) will be lost. Most people are just not going to put up with it. Look at what ndrick731 said. There is a prime example. Compared to the other big three sport leagues in America (NFL, MLB, NBA), the NHL already struggles as it is to garner attention and bring in new fans. Smaller market teams will have a harder time than the larger, more successful franchises, but in general all of the NHL would have one hell of a time on its hands to rebuild its image should things take a turn for the worse.

As a season ticket holder for many years if they shutdown again I’m done. I can just save the money and buy playoff seats for less than I would spend on season tickets. And if my team doesn’t make the playoffs I’ll be that much further ahead.

Look I know the didn’t expect the world economy to tank but con on you gave the players this outcome over the last strike you gave it away you can’t get it all back now. Sigh. Makes me sad your still in charge if I was an owner I would want you gone. But I am not.
