Let’s see, that’s how players are paid in the NFL……no,…. the MLB…….no,…… the NBA……that would be a no. Accept it, major league players in any sport are paid for the possibility of what they might accomplish. Andrew Luck and RGIII were just recently signed for hefty sums and they have yet to play a game.

Considering the sums that have been paid out during the NHL free agency, Mike Green is not being overpaid. Anyway, I’m happier with over paying Green than I would have been over paying Dennis Wideman. At least Green has proven he can do it in the past, Wideman has only proven he can get burned.

Im confused … wouldn’t dogging it until you get the big deal pretty much guarantee that you don’t get the big deal?

If ya question a guys work ethic I’d be worried about him after he got the big deal…

Which again lends to my thought on ‘pay for performance’ not ‘promise to perform after getting paid’.

Hey, Greenlife, don’t let your mouth write checks your body can’t cash.

As a Caps fan I hope Green does put up more points next year, but I don’t see him returning to his old self. I think after injuries, surgery, and a dose of maturity, Green is going to finally find that comfort zone where he provides offense when needed, but is more consious and efficent in his own end.
