Howson is under no obligation to move Nash. If there IS a season and Nash DOES hold out, Howson will suspend him and toll his contract. Nash has a bigger interest in getting a deal done than Howson does. He will need to expand his list so that teams like OTT can bid. That will force teams on the list to stop offering spare parts and acting like they are making fair offers.

I’m still willing to bet big bucks that Nash will be traded before camp starts. Keeping him on the roster isn’t an option for exactly this reason… the “awkward factor”. The guys not going to walk away from $7.8 million and Columbus doesn’t want to pay someone that kind of money whos unhappy and under performing. Its a no win situation for everyone, and if Howson wants to cling to his job a little bit longer he’ll make sure Nash is moved.

Howson was clearly hoping that once the big name free agents were gone, there would be a Rick Nash bidding war and he would get a sky high return. Clearly that hasn’t happened, so now one has to think the price for Nash will fall back down to the “not completely laughable” range.

Did anybody ever consider that Howson is in WAY over his head? He keeps mentioning that Nash is an elite player (maybe he once was, but with the organization’s suck-a-tude in drafting and developing – they couldn’t develop Pam Anderson with 50 lbs. of silicone in each, err, mammary – Nash, IMO, either by the level of suck around him or the team, overall, is an All-Star, NOT an elite player.

But let’s “assume” Nash is an elite player – then maybe, just maybe, SH, you should keep your said ‘elite’ player, and for once, BUILD a team around him.

Of course, there’s one BIG problem, here – Nash has requested to be traded. But, given SH denying interest in Bernier, throwing Nash under the bus, and taking a playoff team to the 30th position, does anyone think Howson harbors some blame in all of this? Or, does anyone trust anything that comes out of his pie hole?

Finally, does he even know what he wants in return for Nash?

To answer all of those 3 questions in one response: “Epic fail!”

The Blue Jackets have also drafted like crap the past few years and every year they start ‘rebuilding’ around Nash. Yes they made an effort with Carter last year, that lasted a whole 8 months and they gave up. Put yourself in his place, how many times could you be told about rebuilding and be fine with it.

Big difference between Nash and Howard. Nash has a no trade clause, he should be able to use it as desired. I also have not heard about him publicly complaining. Yes he asked for a trade that happens all the time, but those typically get resolved somewhat easily. Fact is Howson is an idiot and has no business being a GM. He has made this a bigger mess than it should be. Howard on the other hand doesn’t have a no trade clause and is holding the magic hostage by saying he won’t agree to stay anywhere other than Brooklyn. Whatever team trades for Nash gets the guarantee he’s committed, same cannot be said about Howard.

I want Nash and Dwight Howard to end up in the same city so I can laugh hysterically at a city who gave up the world for 2 of the biggest crybabies in sports. “well I want to be traded but only to a contender and only in these select cities and only If I’m paired with all star players and wah wah wah.” personally I hope wherever Nash goes suffers and misses the playoffs. I hate these guys with the prima donna attitudes (not saying Howson isn’t the culprit here) that are more concerned with joining a team who has drafted well and built from the ground up but has a problem with their current team who drafted well by picking them and won’t give them the Ensor of a doubt to build the team up.

The whole Nash thing has become so overblown. I understand, and it is obvious, that this is going to be drawn out and the blue jackets are in no rush. So, because there won’t be any meaningful updates in the near future, we are going to get these forced Nash stories based on ‘what ifs’. Not necessarily blaming this site because a lot of the time, PHT is just relaying information but I for one am sick of all the Nash talk. At this point, I don’t care until he actually gets traded. Any other sort of ‘update’ is worthless and just meant to kill time…
