Had fairly cheaply?? His cap hit is almost 7 mil....im sure is asking price will be close to that.
Besides he is very high maintenance, needing catering for his entourage etc.
But this is not to say i wouldnt want him back. Because him, ovi and backstrom on a power play together is definitely one of the scariest in the nhl. Even thothe numbers were down last two years, i remember a time when "oh the caps on a powerplay, well just give them a goal..."

Semin is an underrated player who gets a lot of criticism, most of which is bogus. Caps are silly to let him walk considering he could be had fairly cheaply.

The only issued with the contract is that it's not guaranteed as with all KHL contracts there. To be the best you have to beat the best. I dont blame Semin on not wanting to play in the KHL (only if it is his only option after the FA period is over with). I think GMGM resigns him at the end of the summer, the numbers that semin put up needs to be replaced. Even though they acquired Ribiero, its only at best 18 goals accounted for. There is still 22 goals sitting out there and they need a top six forward who can put those numbers up at the least. If theyopt not to resign Semin.

I'm sure Semin has had more then a fair share of offers from NHL teams. Yes he has a checkered past, but a lot of players with bigger issues then Semin have easily found work in the NHL. The guy can put the puck in the net far better then most, and when his heads in the game hes easily one of the best players in the world. Of course keeping his head in the game is an issue, but hes still worth a the risk at the right price.

With that said, he might have quite a few offers... but that doesn't mean they are great offers (from his POV). If I had to guess, I would say most of the offers he has seen are in the $4-6 million range and are very short, possibly no longer then a season. The problem is, if the rumor is true, he may well have a three year, $30 million offer from the KHL to think about. Hes probably thinking very hard if he wants to play in the NHL, where opinion of him is quite low, for half the money or if he wants to go play in his home land for more money then he will ever make in the NHL.

I have to say, if thats the case... I don't blame him for thinking long and hard about it. Thats quite an offer he supposedly has from Russia.

I think this decision may come back and bit GMGM in the #$%. That was an egregious act by TSN to say those things about him, he is a dynamic player, although he can be lazy at times. The Good Definitely outweighs the bad with Semin and thus GMGM should make him an offer
