Brian Burke the Jerk will blow tons of smoke about how he won’t overpay for Bernier and then he’ll overpay………….. just like he did with most of the Canucks as Gm there.

Bernier will likely be a solid NHL tender, but there’s not a good spot for him yet in 2012. Better for Kings to just hold him and look to move him mid-season when an injury creates a need somewhere. It will happen, and then he’ll jump to the #1 guy who people start asking about. Kings would do well to sign another decent and cheap #2b to a deal (like Huet, Ellis, etc) so Bernier can move when the time is right.
