Agree…management has to protect a player from hurting himself permanently with issues like concussions, broken bones that need to heal properly, etc. That said, you can’t tell me that 90% of the NHL players aren’t playing in some sort of pain by the time game 70 comes around. If you’re making a lot of money and want to keep your spot, you play through nagging things and things that won’t hurt you permanently. I don’t think the Sabres overly push players to play hurt – more like they have to step in at some point and stop a player from making a bad decision & hurting himself.
