Hasek in my opinion was the best goalie 2 play the game, but come on he’s 47 now, the khl is not nearly as competitive as the NHL, if he does come back I can’t see him playing more than 40 games

Drop that save percentage by .01 and raise that GAA by .3 or .4 and you have worst case scenario for him in the NHL.

If he can just stay injury free, he’ll be fine. That is a big if though.

Hasek has been same ole same ole since leaving the NHL. Had a .921 S% and 2.26 GAA in the Czech league and .915 2.48 in the KHL.

I wonder how he did when he was w Spartak 2 yrs ago. Wonder if Howson would take him as part of a deal for Nash? Wait. Maybe Shero can sign Mario Lemieux and Hasek, then trade the two of them, a first rounder, Brian Strait and Tyler Kennedy, a Primanti’s franchise, a pair (no, make it a row) of Pitt football season tix and a picture of the Stanley Cup and Lombardi Trophy for Nash?

Hasek will be in the Hall of Fame when he finally retires. But he relied on agility and foot speed as a player, and you have to think that at 47, he would see a decline in both. I guess if I had a chance to earn several million dollars riding the bench, I’d take it, and to heck with anyone who wanted to complain about it. But I don’t think it ends well.

Luongo is not coming to Toronto. Bernier is not coming to Toronto. Bringing in Hasek will cost almost nothing and he’s an option.

2 years for probably less than 1 million a year. Not like the team doesn’t have spare change and hasn’t had dead weight on the books before.

The #1 Center role will at least be acceptable. The goalie situation is bad, real bad when you look at the D in front.

Hasek will be cheap, no harm in trying him out.

Do you honestly think Hasek can do that though? Ten years ago, maybe, but now? With that awful defense in front of him in Toronto, facing offenses like Ottawa and Boston in the division? Thirty wins?

I think he can win thirty in two years, but not in one.

Leafs need a proven goalie, can’t get much more proven than Hasek. They only need him to win 30 games, even Reimer can eek out enough wins after that to get them in the playoffs.

he’s prolonging the retiring of his number by the sabres when he does this. ted black has stated that when hasek retires for good, the number will most likely be raised by the franchise.

for hasek i could understand that hearing that kind of claim could cause a rendition of a “mid-life” crisis, putting a for sure end on one’s playing career. for someone who loves the sport, it could be hard finally being able to let go…
