“You’re the best color commentator in hockey.” Except for all the ones who I like better (such as Brian Engblom, Bill Clement, Drew Remenda, Daryl Reaugh, Brian Hayward). I like how Ed uses “opportunity” at least twice in every sentence, pronouncing it properly almost half the time (it usually mumbles out as “opportuny”). My favorite Ed line last season was about a player’s shifts being “far and in between.” I think he was aiming for “few and far between” but couldn’t quite get there. Alas.

bcjim, I disagree. He was a very good player, with 342 goals and 794 points, way more than most players, and high on the all-time US list. He belongs in the US Hall. I would not nominate him for the Hall in Toronto, however, as that should be reserved for the best of the best. (It isn’t always thus, but should be.) And I would not let Ed’s poor record at NHL coaching, or the fact that I really dislike his TV commentating cloud my thinking on his prowess as a player.

Your way wrong, the best color commentator is Bob Errey, everyone in the SCA and The Franchise knows that, his comments on soup can’s thighs and overall girth says it all.
