They’ve changed the format a lot this year, in particular how the Final table is being played. Oct 28th is the final 9 (traditionally the Nov 9) where they’ll play down to the last 2 … after that they’re going to resume on Oct 30th Heads Up for the Main Event bracelet.

Anyways, if the Pens aren’t afraid to interrupt Jordan Staal’s wedding with a trade, the Canucks wouldn’t be bothered by moving him in the middle of a poker tournament. The only factor is he’d required approval due to his NTC, but his agent might be able to handle most of those details without him.
