PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Get this, the Red Wings want Shane Doan… (Detroit Free Press)

…And so do the San Jose Sharks (the interest is mutual!). (All Things Avs)

…As do the Chicago Blackhawks and they know they’re not alone. (

Take this with a grain of salt: There’s a report out of Russia saying Alexander Semin will sign a one-year deal with the Penguins. (Sportsnet)

Former BU product Vinny Saponari is from Georgia and he’s trying out with the Winnipeg Jets. Well this is awkward. (Winnipeg Sun)

Adam Oates was happy to get over his first-day butterflies running the Capitals’ prospect camp. (

The Devils are on the hunt for assistant coaches now. (Fire & Ice)

The Kitchener Rangers are suing a Michigan student newspaper for their story about the team looking to pay big bucks to Jacob Trouba to play for them. (QMI Agency)

Signings: Bruins lock up Christian Hanson (  Leafs sign Korbinian Holzer (Toronto Sun) Ducks sign Corey Elkins (Ducks)

Of course everyone wants him. He’s a blood n’ guts type player with some decent scoring as well. Like Ryan Callahan, but bigger. Who wouldn’t want a guy like that on their team?

A decision for Doan to come to the sharks is possible today…Hmm… Interesting.

were you born a complete idiot or do you need to work at it!! Doan is a great player on the ice, in the locker room and in the community…any team would be much better by having him in the fold

He’s also a leader and a physical presence and is capable of getting 50-60 points

i hated doan throughout the conference finals, but this just goes to show you how valuable this kind of a player is………i wonder how the first conversation between him and brown would go if he came to la

Fortunately the Michigan student newspaper has nothing to worry about. James Madison took care of business in 1789 with the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights. No US court–especially not a Michigan court where judges are elected–would uphold the Rangers’ claim and no Canadian court would have jurisdiction.
