The Predators already went through an ownership crisis once (with the owner of the Wild, no less) and faced an absolute gutting of the team for sale. A few years after, we’ve made the 2nd round twice and beaten Detroit to get there for the first time.

The Predators fan base is very passionate, and the team is still good. It needs improvement…but there’s no denying that the team will still draw in people as it always does. The Preds front office knows how to market and draw the city in. Losing Suter hurts, and even Tootoo with how much people loved him. But the team won’t fold and die.

The preds are still very good, they need to spend to hit the cap floor and are a playoff caliber team. I want these guys on my team but the preds can easily overpay for top notch free agents like Doan, or depth guys like coriacacovo to replace suters points, wellwood to help out on D from the 4th line who can also put up good points…. And if they trade weber (which might be a good idea since we don’t know what his game is like without suter) they can add a lot of good pieces as well. Honestly, suter was a huge part of the team, but him leaving just opens a lot of good options for this team who has some depth at D.

“death” is a little extreme. Events like this definitely are more detrimental to a small market team, you would think …but they still have a lot of talent. Like he said, it is how you spend the money and they should have some extra lying around now that it’s not being spent on Suter. Depending on how they spend it, they can still be pretty dangerous. Columbus being in the position they are in is another story. Add to that the eventual departure of Nash and that could be tough to overcome. You can see why their GM is being incredibly patient and careful. If they get a bad return for Nash, it is going to be pretty tough for them to overcome. The Preds have been decent for a few years now and seem to have a good idea of what they are doing.

Poile can’t say it is, but really you know, I know, poile know and suter definitiely knows that this could be death for a small market franchise.

Don’t worry… Preds still will do better than the wild next year. The preds have a great team, the wild still have a few more moves to make to get them to be an elite team. Soon the wild will be deadly, just not next season.
