I think it’s time for him to go. He’s sitting comfortably knowing that whether or not he shows up for optional skates, scores goals, or gives 50% percent as opposed to thornton’s 110% he gives for every game, he won’t have to face any consequences other than a bad article about him in the news. Get someone new who shows they want to be there and make an effort.

Couldn’t put it better. It is time for a culture change in SJ. I personally know of three season ticket holders who said they will not re-up for next season if Marleau remains a Shark. This team, as it is built now, will not win a Stanley Cup. And this is coming from a die hard Sharks fan.

If anyone watched this guy play for years on end you’d understand why he gets bashed so much. He’s heartless and emotionless. His goals never come timely. He never steps up his game. He’s a regular season player period. He’s not a winner and never will be. I want a player that has heart, desire, passion, and will not settle for regular season points for a reputation as being successful.

Im no particular fan of PM or the SJS but his rep exists because the team has a poor playoff history recently.

Of course Setoguchi and Couture made less, Couture was on an ELC, duh.

10-11 He actually tied for the team lead with 7 goals, he was tied with Couture, and Setoguchi to be accurate. And both those players combined made less money then Marleau. Additionally Marleau was 5th in pts scored that year.

09-10 Was a -3 with 8 goals, 1 behind Pavelski who made a lot less then Marleau

Well so have the Sharks ! … I remember going to the Shark’s first ever game against the Canucks here in Vancouver back in ’91 … they had this highly touted guy called Pat Faloon or something ? … and back then just like today, for some reason they can’t capitalize on their full potential ? … if it were any other team, then no big deal … but the Sharks are an excellent team which has been loaded with studs for years ? … and they should have had “multiple” Stanley Cup Championships by now … I just don’t get it ? … nonetheless, I wish them all the best regardless …

I don’t understand where the “Marleau disappears in the playoffs” stigma comes from. He’s been arguably their most reliable goal scorer in recent playoffs. Just because he has one off-year doesn’t mean he should get this rep.

10-11 – Leads Sharks with 7 goals.
09-10 – Second on team with 8 goals.
08-09 – Led team with 2 goals.
07-08 – Second on team with 4 goals.

If he deserves criticism in the playoffs, the last place is goal scoring or putting up points. It’s his plus/minus and perceived compete level.
