Because expansion into the sun belt/southern states is something GB sees as his legacy as comish. The Thrashers already failed and went to Winnipeg and seeing the team that left Winnipeg to go to Phoenix also fail is something he will fight to the bitter end.

Even if it eventually makes common sense.

I think that the best option for -everyone- at this point would be to move the Coyotes back up to Quebec so they can restart the Nordiques franchise. Better market, larger fan base and probably vastly more stable ownership.

Don’t make the fans of the Coyotes go through this constant uncertainty. It’s not fair to them.

Why does Bettman fight so hard to save a team that’s lost money every season since they moved to Phoenix? If he’s looking out for the best interests of the NHL wouldn’t it make sense to have strong franchises in strong markets rather than jumping through hoops to give one franchise the right to lose $25 million per year?

I respect the actual Coyotes fans, the ones who go to the games, but is it worth it for something that interests only about 12,000 people per game?

This isn’t new news at all. Post something when 1) Greg Jamison or someone else has actually bought the team or 2) When the NHL pulls the plug and announces the relocation/folding of this train wreck.

At what point does the NHL simply pull the plug? Would never have imagined it, but you could have a team being relocated right after a trip to the Conference Finals.
