their scoring will increase but it all comes down to being healthy the full season. Koivu and Setoguchi should have better years than last but anything can happen.

Parise – Koivu – Heatey
Setoguchi – PMB – Granlund
Cullen – Brodziak – Clutterbuck

these 3 lines (not sure how they are going to look exactly, just a guess above) should fair pretty well with the league and be in the middle teens for best scoring in the NHL “if healthy”. Maybe 220 goals this season?

We’ll see how they do. I know they’ve got talented young players, but sometimes it takes a while to turn young talent into winning, see Oilers youth.

They still need to add scoring. I don’t mind Brodziak, but if he’s tied for second on your team in scoring, you’re not going very far, unless you expect to win a lot of 1-0 games. And this is where depth comes in. You’re going to have injuries, so who steps in as a quality seventh defenceman can have just as much impact as adding a top player.

I like what they’ve done with ZP and Suter, and they’ve got a lot of young players with talent. I just don’t know if that translates to a playoff team this year. Good luck Wild fans. Your team will make the division more interesting for the next few years.

Not necassarily. The Wild were around 15th last year in team defense, using most of these guys. Adding Suter bumps everyone done a notch. Add in the fact that Most of these guys are young and in there first couple seasons(Falk 23 yo, Spurgeon 22, Kampfer 23, Scandella 22, Brodin 20) they will naturally progress. Defensemen aren’t who they are when they are 23. It takes time to develop, and they will continue to develop and get better.

I was figuring it would take until the all-star break to see what kind of team they really are. If they’re going to be in the playoffs, they should be in contention by then and we should know what kind of injuries they’ll have to deal with.

But at the same time, their defence is thin behind Suter and Gilbert and the leading scorer was Heatley with 53 points in 82 games (followed by Koivu and Brodziak at 44 pts). Those would both have to improve to have a realistic shot. It’ll be fun to watch.

To be a contender… all you need to do is make the dance…. recent winners of the Stanley Cup have proven this. Get into the playoffs and in theory, you are now a contender… Will the Wild make the playoffs, I think so… and that is without homer glasses on. Do I think the Wild are a Stanley Cup team???? maybe not, but they could be. I would guess with their prospect pool, they would make a deadline trade to beef up their blueline.

In due time Brodin and Dumba will be huge contributors to the Wilds top 4 but for now, yes, they need to add more on the back end…

Let’s just enjoy the moment (wild fans) for now and see how the first 30-40 games play out before we plan the parade. I think that is fair, don’t you? Most Wild fans haven’t been running their mouths and if they were, it was just to the trolls, like I do from time to time

great signing and this will most likely put Brodin in Houston, which is the best for his development. Have Brodin play 40 games before he gets called up “if needed”, by then he should be used to the North American brand of hockey and have some of the rookie gitters out of him.

Falk has size and should find a home in the last pairing. Anything but Prosser starting!!!!!!

Suter – Gilbert
Stoner – Scandella
Falk – Spurg.
