Well, as an ER doc I can tell you that if we had nothing to go on and did an admit for eval it would be to a general med floor, and sometimes even for some more basic cardiac arrhythmias.

If he went to an ICU it’s because he experienced a potentially life ending event. Sad fact is that there simply aren’t enough ICU beds to put someone in just because.

on the other hand I guess I didn’t actually require CPR so that does change things, I guess. I had crushing chest pains but never stopped breathing or anything.

Didn’t jump to any conclusions, didn’t say it was something big, didn’t say it was something small, didn’t say just because he’s in “ICU” anyone knows whats going on yet.

Either way you shouldn’t jump to any conclusions. It might be something big, it might be nothing at all. But just because the guy is in CCU doesn’t mean they know what’s going on yet.

From firsthand experience, sometimes these “incidents” turn out to be SOMETHING VERY MUCH. It takes time to FIND stuff out. I’ve spent a couple of YEARS in hospitals seeing MANY INCIDENTS of some sort, they had to do a bunch of tests, it was never determined what caused the DEATH of a few of them and IT DID KILL SOME OF THEM.

From firsthand experience, sometimes these “incidents” turn out to be nothing much. It takes time to rule stuff out. I spent a couple of days in the hospital after an “incident” of some sort, they had to do a bunch of tests, it was never determined what the cause was but whatever it was, it wasn’t about to kill me.
