PHT Morning Skate: Where Parise watch rolls right along

Jul 3, 2012, 7:00 AM EDT

PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Is Zach Parise the guy the Blackhawks really need? Tracey Myers asks the question. (CSNChicago.com)

While other teams are busy fighting over Parise and Ryan Suter, the Kings are happy to sit back and take care of their own. (Los Angeles Times)

The New Jersey Devils mascot is apparently not a big fan of Parise Watch. Good thing he deleted the tweet. Bad news? The internet never forgets. (Twitter h/t to @unmatchedsock for the screen cap)

Justin Bourne thinks the free agent process needs some tweaking and I can’t say I disagree, either. (Backhand Shelf)

Panthers wunderkind Jonathan Huberdeau is looking like he’ll be a stud in South Florida next season. (On Frozen Pond)

Steve Ott is really fired up over going to Buffalo. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve got ever Boston-Buffalo game circled for next season. (Buffalo News)

Cody Franson‘s negotiations with Toronto have everything to do with him having opportunities. (TSN)

Mark Whicker gets down and dirty with Sheldon Souray. Wait, that came out wrong. (OC Register)

Signings: Sharks sign Alex Stalock among others. (CSNBayArea.com)

Coyotes sign Chris Conner. (Coyotes)

Matt Smaby signs with Anaheim. (Ducks)

Finally, goalies are looking pretty sweet on EA’s NHL 13. (YouTube)

Parise must be enjoying all the attention.

Parise is on a plane now… most likely, where it lands he will sign. This could be done with by noon….. where will that plane land ????

One more bad hit and his career’s over. Certainly, absolutely, don’t want to see it, but all the Chuck Norris-esque talk is a little silly.

You can say that about every single NHL, AHL, heck any hockey player in the world.

        Trent McCleary
        Jeff Beukeboom
        Cam Neely
        Steve Moore

There are a bunch of them. Sid’s injury issue this season was due to soft tissue injury in his neck. Not a concussion. Both had similar symptoms.

So – the question is, is he going home to announce in Minnesota that he’s going to sign with the Wild? Or is he going home to talk to his family to make sure they’re okay with him signing in a different city.

PariseWatch is going to get me fired.

    • comeonnowguys - Jul 3, 2012 at 9:28 AM

      Awesome.

What’s even more frustrating about it is the fact that up until yesterday morning I didn’t have to care about it because my favorite team *surely* was not in the running for him, so it was more of an outside curiosity. Now we’re on the hook just long enough to get our hopes up.

      • napoleonblownapart6887 - Jul 3, 2012 at 9:30 AM

        Chi-town?

      • comeonnowguys - Jul 3, 2012 at 9:40 AM

        Yup.

  5. uscthom78 - Jul 3, 2012 at 9:34 AM

I am expecting a news conference with him, Suter and bob Murray. I got e5 confirmation.

    • uscthom78 - Jul 3, 2012 at 10:33 AM

Their flights should be landing at John Wayne Airport anytime soon (e10).

Haven’t owned a new NHL game since NHL 98 (you know, the one with Forsberg on the cover) but sheesh, that game preview almost makes me wanna get the new one. They’ve finally reached the uncanny valley for video game graphics.

  7. howardforvezina - Jul 3, 2012 at 11:31 AM

Parise will take his talents to south Detroit.

  8. zaksyuk - Jul 3, 2012 at 12:38 PM

I would like to thank EA Canada for being american and not being able to wait for september 11th for the first time in 11 years !

  9. minnesotasportsinsider - Jul 3, 2012 at 1:30 PM

Parise IS in MN right now. He said at MSP that he is going to talk things over with his fiancé today. Quote “that hasn’t happened yet.”
