Macdonald played great for a hot team for a few games, but he’s played for the Wings in the past and was only average. He may have been a serviceable backup for the wings for a few years, but they saw a better player in Gustavsson and got him.

Wings will regret this move Gustavsson is a stiff. McDonald was big for them last year. I would ask for a trade too if I was passed over like this

Gustavsson is a beast in size and has potential to be a stud. Joey Mac was never going to replace Jimmy. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t any good. It is what it is. I think people are saying he was great at times last year, that doesn’t mean that they are saying he is truly a great goalie. Whatever.

I think Joey will make a good backup somewhere. Don’t think he’s No. 1 goalie material, but he showed last year he can carry a team. Hope he finds a good place and hopefully the Wings get something decent in return.

There are PLENTY of teams for whom Joey would be a MAJOR upgrade, and as a starter at that.

Detroit will be looking for a 2 or 3 line D-man for him.

I certain hope he gets a shot. When he was healthy last year he played better than jimmy Howard. He is a class guy and would make a great backup anywhere. Also shows once again the amazing class of the Red Wings organization. It is a family environment there and it shows in how they operate.
