Suter’s agent: “There will be no decision tonight”

There’s still a chance that Zach Parise will sign before the night is done, but it looks like the same can’t be said about Ryan Suter.

“There will be no decision tonight and there is no timetable for his contract signing at this time,” Suter’s agent, Neil Sheehy said, according to the Tennessean. “Ryan is considering his opportunities and is taking the necessary time to give each proper consideration.”

Darren Dreger reported Monday afternoon that the Carolina Hurricanes are no longer in the running. However, the Nashville Predators are still in the running. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, it seems likely that the Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings are also in the mix.

There aren’t a ton of other appealing free agent defensemen left on the open market. However, Matt Carle and Bryce Salvador are still out there as cheaper fallback options. There’s also a chance that the Calgary Flames will trade Jay Bouwmeester over the summer.

C’mon Ryan, Detroit is not an ‘also ran’ in this race! ; )

    However, they will NOT overpay.

Translation = If we keep waiting someone else will still think they’re in it and offer more money.

Suter is waiting on Parise to make up his mind. If Parise signs with Minnesota, Suter will likely follow. If Parise signs with Pittsburgh, Suter is likely to sign with Detroit.

      1) It is LeBron

      2) These guys are making a decision on where they will play for the next 10-12 years. Meaning they are basically deciding where they will finish their careers. They have every right to take their time and make an informed decision. Trust me this is killing my productivity at work but such is life.
