Montreal has had a hell of an offseason.

Easily anyone who has seen the prospects they got in the draft (mainly round 2) that they are the team that won the draft.

Yesterday the team added two things the team has not had in a long time, depth and size.

Montreal will be younger, faster and a lot more stronger than that team that showed up last year. Not to mention they already had a good core, just need to shave off the huge cap hit of Gomez by sending him to the minors or Europe.

I still really don’t know why theres so much Jagr hate around here. The guy had 54 points last year, and proved he can still play. Yes he slowed down a bit at the end of the season, but thats to be expected for a guy whos 40 years old and hadn’t played in the NHL for a couple years.

Also, why is a guy a sellout if he goes to the team that will pay him the most? I don’t get that. These guys are professioanl athleats, whos careers are only so long. I don’t blame them at all for wanting to make as much money as possible while they still can.

he will get $3.5-$4 from montreal where there’s no real chance of winning anything, score 10 goals and then ride off to the casino once the season is over.

They pretty much have to start over. At this point they may just need to have a rough season while their kids develop. They’ve got cap space, but there aren’t enough free agents to turn this team around this year.

It’s not whether LAST season is worth $4M–it’s whether he’s likely to post those numbers again. Given that he’ll be 41 during the season, and won’t be surrounded by stars in Montreal, $4M is probably an overpay. But then, it’s one year, so not a problem either way.
