Plans to give a firm offer??? Where the hell has he been the past year and a half with those offers? He had to over pay on Weber’s one year arbitration because he didn’t lock him up earlier. This revelation and the last few moves he has made bring me to question whether or not Poile is the right guy for Nashville. I don’t understand 3.25 for Gaustad. Tootoo only got 1.9 per. Different players and positions on team but Goose is not worth that, where was he in the playoffs? A 1st rounder for him too. Time for Poile to exit if you ask me. This situation reminds me of Buffalo. Letting good players get to RFA or UFA when they should have been locked up. GM and coach on long tenures without winning anything.

I don’t think Suter picked Detroit. It sounded like a premature rumor and nothing more. We’ll find out later today!

Nick Cotsonika via twitter: If Suter is coming to the Red Wings, they haven’t heard. Nick Kypreos via twitter: Still looking for confirmation, but sense decision is coming soon. Pierre LeBrun via twitter: Suter agent Neil Sheehy said that Suter has not made a decision yet. Nick Kypreos via twitter: Suter won’t make anything official until tomorrow, but some on the inside say he’s leaning towards the Wings.

That’s a tough position to play in Detroit this year, whether it’s fair or not Suter is going to be looked at as Lidstrom’s replacement, never good to be the guy replacing a legend, it’s always better to be the guy replacing the guy who replaced a legend.

If I were Poile I’d be praying some team signs Weber to an offer sheet, that way you can match quickly keep Weber long term and not have the same issues of will he or won’t he that they had with Suter this year.
