Always enjoy Burke, brings a little color to the game….plus, you can’t forget that he actually extracted #1 draft picks (albeit low ones) for Versteeg and Kaberle, when most rational people understood they were not elite players…..that said, I think he will out-wait Gillis for Luongo, who must move him to keep the locker room in Vancouver together; and it doesn’t appear that any other team is serious about acquiring him, which also helps.

But I do agree that the Leafs need to make the playoffs next year; and Luongo would likely make that happen…..So Burke doesn’t have all the leverage, either

If Burke were really confident going forward with Reimer and Scrivens, he wouldn’t be working the phones as hard as he can to land a real no. 1. It’s clearly his last resort to go next season with those two, and he will try to sell them to fans as hard as he can if he doesn’t land a no. 1…..and I bet the Leafs fans will buy it.

Burke’s a good guy…but not so much as a GM. Luongo’s probably annoyed that they drafted an offense-only defenseman in the first round, especially since that defense is so crappy.
