In your dreams…Parise wants to be reunited with Crosby; in fact the Pens not only will sign Parise AND Sutor, but just might trade Paul Martin even up for Nash.

In my opinion, the Sens do have what Columbus is looking for to get this trade done. It’s no secret. The only problem is Nash himself. I don’t think he wants to play on a Canadian team, the only reason he listed the Leafs is because of the huge hockey fanbase and that he would be overpaid when he signs with them next. Also, Toronto is the closest club to the American border. If Nash changes his mind I think a deal could come, but Philly is also a potential landing spot in my mind. Columbus is interested in Brayden Schenn, and the package of the Schenn bros. and a first round draft pick plus a prospect could be too tempting to resist. Just because JVR is gone does not mean they should be counted out.

Whoa whoa…I just got a hell of a lot a nasty emails….hey…Parise and Nash arent the only players that have told me that the prefer to be traded to the KIngs. Its their choice, their decision. I mean, its no secret the Kings have become the Redwings of the teens…..

I’ve talked to Zach Parise and Rick Nash in the last week and both have said they prefer the L.A. Kings over all other suitors.

At the end of the day Nash wants the Rangers and the Rangers want Nash. Both parties will holdout till Howson has no choice but to trade him to the Rangers.

Ottawa is not going to be a contender this year. You could even argue getting Nash will set them back as they would be coughing up some of the young players and prospects you’re arguing makes them a contender.

As for the Leafs being on the list, that has a lot to do with him wanting to play for his hometown team as well as in an actual hockey market. Ottawa is neither.

There’s a major flaw in that argument. Nash apparently has TOR on his list. TOR is NOT a contender & Nash would not make it one. So winning the Cup obviously isn’t his first priority.

I am not an OTT fan and I am not delusional. OTT did make the playoffs this year & came very close to advancing. And, no, neither PIT or PHI would have…I won’t use your word..beaten OTT badly. OTT was 2-2 v PHI & 3-1 v PIT this year. In fact, they had beaten both teams just before the playoffs. The win v PIT was a blowout. Plus, according to Hockey’s Future, OTT has the best pool of prospects in the NHL—meaning that they will only get better. It is not delusional to say OTT is a contender because, in fact, they are. The addition of Nash might be just enough to push them over the top.

In any event, Nash doesn’t hold the cards here. CBJ does. He only gets dealt if they decide to do so and Howson and company need to be very hard nosed about this. Unless there is another comparable offer, Nash should be left with three choices. He can take the trade to OTT, he can stay with CBJ & play out his contract or he will be suspended and the contract tolled until he does report.

There is a reason Ottawa was not on Nash’s list to begin with. Only someone who was delusional, or an Ottawa fan, honestly thinks they will be a contender next season. Nash might up that chance slightly, but it by no means makes it a certainty. So again, why would Nash want to leave Columbus and join another team that very well might struggle to make the playoffs?

Side Note: Ottawa might have pushed the Rangers to seven games, but they still lost in the first round. It could also be argued that it was more the Rangers horrible offense that forced the series to seven games. Now before you say it was Ottawa’s defense or the play of Anderson… just look at the Rangers offense the entire playoffs. It was bad. If Ottawa was playing a team like the Flyers or the Pens they would have been raped.

I think the Bob trade was message sending by the Jackets. They are under no obligation to move Nash. They can go ahead with him on the roster and go into next season. If he fails to report, they can suspend him and toll his contract as the Isles did with Nabby. He’ll still owe them the same number of years regardless and if he reports and doesn’t paly hard, it will make it that much more unlikely that he gets traded.

OTT took the NYR to the mat w/o Nash. He might put them over the top. At the end of the day, I see this getting done.

Does anyone think this deal gets done before the start of the year now?

Nash is looking more and more like another deadline deal.

Howson can’t trade Nash for future draft picks in 2013 without knowing where teams will land. To get a return of prospects / proven player / future picks but those fail to land in the top 10 or so in the first round, could really destroy Columbus going in the future.

I would love to see Montreal somehow get their hands on Nash. Sadly, I can see why players would not want to play in Mtl because of the screwed up fans there. Im a Mtl fan from western Canada and am embarrassed at what the fans in Quebec are like.

I doubt Nash would agree to go to Ottawa. He likely wants to get out of Columbus because he wants to win a Cup… and sorry Senators fans, but thats unlikely to happen in Ottawa any time soon. We can debate how much potential Ottawa might have in the future, but the fact remains they are a rebuilding team that hasn’t been a threat to go deep in the playoffs for a while now. Seems like that would make a poor destination for a guy looking to win a Cup.
