Dalton Thrower is about the same size (6-0, 200), and put up similar point totals to some of the highly ranked defensement taken from the WHL. Murray, Rielly, Dumba, Pouliot, etc. Plus he is more physical than any of them. Hard to see what seperates them really.

I just typed up a huge paragraph that was very detailed and yada yada yada.. then hit reload. ARGH!!!!

noteworth? I would say Brodin is very noteworthy at this point but that’s not a big issue.

Again, all I am saying, I trust Fletcher in what he is doing, drafting his guys and building his team. I am not arguing, just speaking thru my Wild glasses.

Granlund and Leddy are the only two who are noteworthy at this point.

When three of those players are making an impact at the NHL level, you may have a case that Chuck Fletcher is doing a great job. Until that time, he has done nothing more than draft. There are far more proven talent evaluators in the NHL.

And to that point, if you merely look at the draft record of Trevor Timmins, it’s light years ahead of the list you’ve just cited.

Fletcher has only been drafting with the Wild for 3 years and has been an associate with other programs with a pretty nice resume.

Fletcher and Flahr I think have done a GREAT JOB in the last 3 years.

Of the Amateur Scouting Departments and General Managers in the NHL you trust Chuck Fletcher more than Trevor Timmins and Marc Bergevin?

Do you have anything resembling a firm grasp on prospects in hockey or the NHL draft over the last ten years?

There are some people in hockey that have stellar reputations as scouting gurus. Chuck Fletcher has never been among them and doesn’t have a body of work sufficient to garner a reputation like that.

no doubt.. but you then have to ask yourself, is ISS wrong, or every other GM / scouting dept. in the league.

I trust ISS but I trust Fletcher for the Wild and his scouting dept more.

again, on paper, Montreal looks like the new management hit a home run. I will wait 4 years to make my formal review

Habs landed 5 players that ISS had ranked in their top 50 prospects. Collberg, Galchenyuk, Thrower, Bozon, and Vail. That is in basically the first round and a half as far as ISS is concerned. They are quite reputable as well.

Indeed, lord, it will be at least four years before we can reasonably assess which players drafted in later rounds were clearly underrated, and which first-rounders will be able to make the difficult transition from big fish/small pond to big fish/ocean.

This is still the most annoying phrase used after drafts in my eyes. There are no winners, not at least for another 4 years.

but yes, on paper Montreal did very well and I like who they selected when given the opportunity. It also doesn’t hurt that they drafted #33 / 51 / 64 / 94 …. just saying
