Agree with Danny. And, since we now have 3 of the 4 Staals, NYR has tremendous leverage when we try to complete the set.
Pens fans will know they won this trade later, when Brandon Sutter comes into his own.
I would have given Skinner before Sutter.

Do you know how many more people are going to show up to your barn to see the Staal’s play? He’s established his name, not to mention he’s brothers with your cap. Even non fans will hear about ‘the staal brothers’ or something like that. Staal’s a more than solid player and will do good for your franchise.

Dumoulin looks like he’s going to be a beast, he was likely going to starting out on the third pairing in Carolina this year. Sutter doesn’t have the offensive skills JStaal does, but he should do just fine on the Pittsburgh PK

There’s been talk of Staal going to Carolina for weeks now, but I honestly never expected it to happen. I honestly think they overpaid, but at least Jim Rutherford is trying to do something instead of sitting idly by and watching the rest of the league get better.

Such a huge Staal fan and am so sad to see him go. I (as all Pens fans should) thank him for his time and his tremendous contributions to our success. Truly a great player with a bright future.

With that said I am equally excited about the Pens being able to get who they did for him. Looking forward to seeing some new faces in the Pens line up soon

Staal scored 25 goals in 62 games. Why are Canes fans upset? He’s also one of the best defensive forwards in hockey. Oh, and they have no chance at Parise unless they dump Martin next. I don’t think they will pursue him anyways. I’m hearing Martin for Setoguchi straight up.

Jordan Staal is 23 and a center, he put up pretty decent numbers playing as a number 2/3 center, plus he’ll cost less than Nash will when his contract is up…he’s a better pickup than Nash IMO.

Wow, where is the ‘Guine fan who said “Why would Pittsburgh trade a key player for Prospects and Picks? They are contenders now.” Sure, I’m upset that Buffalo didn’t make a play, or a hard enough one if they did, but to come out and say that Staal wasn’t getting moved was absolutley ridiculous. You don’t turn down a 10 year deal on a team with cup aspirations unless you don’t want to play there anymore. I’m sure we will see a PHT post use the pun “Staal-ing” atleast once this season. Looking forward to it.

Pierre Maguire needs to get off the Penguins sack! He stated “the Eastern conference must be absolutely scared by what Ray Shero was able to accomplish” the funny thing is he said almost the exact same thing when the Penguins signed Michalek and Paul Martin a couple of years ago, I believe it was “Pittsburgh just reloaded, they’ll be winning championships for years to come” way to be impartial Pierre.
