It’s not looking like Rick Nash is getting traded today

If you’re tuned into the draft hoping to hear of a Rick Nash trade, you’re going to be disappointed.

Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson told reporters he feels like it’s not looking good for a deal to be done on draft day and things might have to wait until after free agency starts on July 1.

“I’d be surprised if a trade got done tonight,” said Howson. “It’s not the market we expected right now.”

Those words will be of little comfort to Blue Jackets fans who saw Howson turn down at least one monster offer from the New York Rangers before the trade deadline in hopes of striking hard after the season ended. Now the talk is Howson might wait to see where Zach Parise lands in free agency before finding out who wants in on Nash.

So tired of hearing about it now. They’re asking for to much for Nash. I hope he stays on the jackets forever.

I’d say he’s smokescreening, but this is Howson….

Howson needs to be drug tested because noones gonna offer anything crazy this offseason for that contract

No s##t! You’re asking for the moon for Nash, that market will likely never develop. Especially since Bobby Ryan, a younger player with a better contract and who’s at worst comparable to Nash skill wise is available for less.

Take a look at what Pittsburgh just got for Staal, that’s a reasonable asking price for Nash.

Wait a minute I thought at the deadline he was waiting because the market would be better at draft time? Now suddenly a bunch more teams will get desperate during free agency when they can sign a big ticket star like Parise or pick up more affordable options that don’t deplete system or roster depth? Well I’m sure I’m wrong & Howson’s misunderstood genius will pay off for Blue Jackets fans and some team will cave into his insane demands & truly believe that trading half their team away for one scorer is the best way to win a cup. I know he FEELS Nash is worth the moon, but the market dictates the value & sorry but Nash is not worth what Howson wants right now, especially with an uncertain salary cap.

Like another commenter said, Ray Shero showed why he’s GM of an elite team & Howson is running Columbus further into the ground than they are. Shero understood the market & took the best return he could.

this bum ( howson) is continuing to milk Nash for everything he can get. waiting to see about Parise? yeah, if the Rangers dont land Zach, they’ll be even more desperate fif Nash. true, but he’s not doing the right thing to everyone involved.
