I think you are right but it was smart for him to turn down that deal at the time.... he will most likely get something just a bit better today.

If your trading Nash, you need to get something that will guarantee work in the long run, I don't think Bishop / Zibanejad / Foligno does that.... Both have good potential but nothing proven in the deal to make Howson pull the trigger.

I do think Ottawa gave a great package for Nash but Howson is gun hold on something else, we will find out... if nothing else comes in today, he will have failed BADLY in my eyes

cheers

true. I dont disagree with that. Theres no point in getting an older goalie. I just felt like the deal that the sens offered with Bishop, Foligno, Zibanejad and the first round pick was a way better fit for the jackets for the rebuilding process, and in my opinion, Bishop has more upside than bob, though brobovsky is three years younger. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be biased because I dont even know if I want the sens to get Nash if its going to cost that much but i think if he pulled the trigger on that deal, he would have had greater leverage in that he could have used his excess picks draft or trade for more young players.

Whats the difference?

If he would get any goalie in the league, the Blue Jackets will still be a re-building team and will miss the playoffs for another 2 years, minimum.

Why not bring in a young goalie than someone like Luongo, whom he still might trade for if Vancouver is willing to take Mason.

I think the move makes sense, and was smart to not get pressured into doing anything "extreme"

-Wild fan.

how does he still have a job? lol. I don't really know how this improves the goaltending situation that much. Maybe it creates a little bit of competition for the young goalies, but with the lack of deptht that the team has both up front and on the blue line, both are probably set up for failure.
