First off Eric Francis is an idiot! I do however agree with what he's saying, the Flames do need to shake up the core they have. I guess Bouwmeester is the logical scapegoat because of his contract, they thought they were getting a great offensive defenseman but he just has produced any O for them, BUT he's actually been really solid defensively and is easily the best skating defenseman on the team. Basically he's the anti-Phaneuf.

You're right, and its a shame. I suppose he's not that first player to get judged by his contract and not on his skill.

(of course I'd take a little abuse for $6.7...)

They could move him, they wouldn't get much in return. He's still a solid defenseman, but he is nowhere near a 6.7 million player. Even if you move him to a team trying to hit the floor (that is in place this year, correct?), you aren't going to get much of a return. They'd be lucky to pick up a 2nd round pick
