IMO, it might be a good thing that expectations aren't sky high on a lot of these prospects. They'll experience less pressure to make it from the get-go and consequently, I'd assume, be able to develop and improve without having constant media distractions surrounding them. There's a whole bunch of good, hard-working kids this draft, as in every draft, and while many won't pan out, there will be those who do. It's presumptuous to call these guys a "sorry lot." I know I'm excited to see what happens this year.

I will disagree and or say it's till way too early to justify any thoughts on the 2010 draft and or 2011. Most haven't even played in their first NHL game yet. Look at the 2010 draft, there are several players missing from my list below that show good promise and still haven't seen the NHL yet, will soon, or in the next 2 years

Granlund / Kuznetsov / Coyle / Tinordi / Bjugstad

Granlund, high prospect
Kuznetsov - top prospect, staying in KHL
Coyle - High prospect, deveolping
and so on and so on.

Let's wait another 2-3 years before we say anything... The only draft we can start to look at is the 2008. Be patient, your not a scout and don't see 99% of these kids play. Give them time to prove you / others they are quality players and their years draft was good or bad. Can't just take the top guys who were busts or calder style guys

Actually I believe he said that previous drafts did have players he was excited about in the late rounds. Isles already have three ELCs from last year's draft, for example, and may have at least one more before the off season ends.

At least in Germany and Switzerland there are maximum numbers of foreign players per team/year in place...

NHL should sit this draft out and let the German, Swiss and Austrian leagues draft this sorry lot directly.

That is where they will end up playing if at all.
