Much like Ray Bourque was, Patrice Bergeron is a rock for the Bruins on and off the ice. To quote Andrew Ference: “He’s perfect.” Couldn’t be happier for him.

Looking at the nominees he beat out, it says a ton about Bergeron’s game this year that he was deemed worthy over guys like that. If you get voted in ahead of Datsyuk in particular, you had one hell of a season. Glad to see Bergeron finally get the recognition he deserves- hard to believe that a couple of years ago we thought his career might be over, and here we are watching him get a Cup ring and a Selke a year apart from each other. What a great story.

Bergeron is the classic example of a player who doesn’t explode on the stat sheet, but brings SO much game on ALL fronts that he’s sorely missed every time he’s not on the ice.

It takes years to get noticed and get credit for what it takes to win this trophy, Im a Wings fan and Bergeron deserved it this one.
