32 bigg thought you might want to educate yourself a little bit before you tell people to bite you. Really? It’s ok to have a different opinion , but based on this you will see I clearly do know what I’m talking about. While i don’t know why you consider the Hockey writers the absolute authority, obviously a lot agree with me. All I know is;
- if it’s game 7 OT of the Stanley Cup and my team is on the PK. I want Chara or Weber out there, not Karlsson – his own coach didn’t even roll him out there.

- If there were to be some sort of fantasy draft Chara and Weber are both taken ahead of Karlsson

- Chara and Weber were both voted by the players as two of the toughest players to play against.

- who do you think Malkin and Stamkos would rather face? karlsson is a heck of a player and an amazing skater. Weber and Chara are just better players.

- it’s been said, but how can the best defenseman in the league not play on the PK?

Weber should have won. Del Zotto and Pietrangelo should have been nominated ahead of Karlsson.

What bothers me is that he Karlsson does have a load of lapses defensively and he refuses to acknowledge them. You have faults. GET BETTER.

Shea Weber robbed for a second year by a slim margin. Nashville in general went 1 – 4 on potential awards. Only winner was Mike Fisher for the NHL Foundation Award. Shoulda had this one, far as I’m concerned.

OK, you got me, lol.

Gimme a break. If you think his defense is that bad, then you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. Obviously he’s not a big defenseman, so not dominant in front of the net. But an excellent skater who is superior out in space.

And if your theory is so obvious, then why do so many hockey writers disagree? You can want the award to not take offensive production into account, but it will never happen.

So bite me.

Ah no. It’s for the best DEFENSE-MAN. Hence the word defense. Let me put it to you this way, if half your grade counts as 50 and the other half counts as 50, it doesn’t matter if you score a perfect 50 in one half if you are a 10 in the other. When you can’t be trusted on the ice at the end or a penalty kill, there is no way it is deserved. When your own coach can’t trust you to defend how the hell do you win the Norris. He is worse in his defensive zone than any one I have ever seen win the Norris, that includes Coffey.

There are no rules that tell people to put more or less emphasis on the offensive or defensive aspect of the player’s game. So, while defense usually takes precedence, it doesn’t have to.

In this case, Karlsson was so much better than any other defenseman in terms of scoring, that scoring weighed more heavily.

It was a close vote, but the win is no less deserved.

I’m a B’s fan and I say Weber got robbed. Karlsson looks like a turnstile in the defensive zone. Fundamentally horrific in his own zone. Physically soft and unwilling to fight along the boards most of the time. Just Bad.

Weber and chara got robbed. This is absolutely rediculous. Karlsson is not the best defenseman in the league im sorry. Horrendous voting.
So if he gets it why didnt mike green get it when he was nominated? Makes absolutely no sense.

This guy was never on the ice for penalty kill or end of game situations so how is it possible he is the leagues best d-man. Chara or Weber are far more deserving.

I can’t say I necessarily agree or disagree with this. I mean, the award goes to the defensemen with the greatest all around ability at that position. But it should be defense first, and Karlsson is anything but a shut down defenseman. Definitely the most gifted offensively, but that should be secondary when considering the vote. Oh well, it’s not like he was some stiff who won it. I think most people can live with the selection.
