It’s not over until it’s over… remember way back when Boston was shopping Ray Bourque around in trade talks? It was Detroit or Philadelphia that he was going to, all the way up until the sudden announcement that he was going to Colorado. Sometimes a team sneaks in out of nowhere with an offer too good to pass up. Detroit looks likely, yes, but there’s no shortage of teams who would give up a fat paycheck to a top-caliber defenseman.

actually the flyers have around 9 million in cap space and thats without pronger on ltir and voracek stilll has to be signed and who knows what will happen at the draft in terms of trades but the flyers have plenty of cap space not saying they are going to land suter but we all know homer is going to make some kind of splash either at the draft or on july 1st

thanks for the laugh. That’s how you see it. Everyone else see’s a player who was straight up with his GM. He wanted security, just like Parise. Both of the big free agents (suter and parise) should have never been in this position. Both GM’s failed to meet these midwest boy’s needs. They wanted a long term deal and I am willing to bet if these GM’s gave them that a year or two ago, the prices would have been 25% less.

Fail on Nashville and NJ, not the players. Both earned their pay day

and as for Suter not being the player Weber will ever be, well duh, they play different styles. Let’s see how Weber looks without Suter bailing him out.

As a Preds fan I am good with Suter leaving and going any where he wants. He held the Preds hostage all year. I really don’t want him here any more. He will never be the player Weber is. He won’t receive a hero’s welcome here when he returns.

I think that even if Poile knew it was Detroit, he wouldn’t have traded the rights. He’d be tarred and feathered for dealing that way with such a hated rival. It wouldn’t be good from a PR standpoint. In my opinion, at least. Maybe he could overlook that.

This just in: water is wet. This is not shocking at all. It will be interesting to see if the Preds trade his rights, my feeling is they will. I think it goes without saying that they will not trade his rights to Detroit though. But there are probably more than a few teams that will be willing to trade a pick or prospect. If he makes it all the way to July 1 unsigned Detroit has to be the front runner. They have tons of cap room and an extreme need for a top d-man.

Detroit is a big favourite right now: plenty of cap space, recently departed top 4 D (Lidstrom and Stuart), and an environment Suter might enjoy. At this point he’s he biggest name in the UFA market and the only one that’s going to cause any interest, so if it is down to what Detroit offers the UFA coverage is going to be pretty boring come July 1st.

He’s going to Detroit, He is constantly linked there. Honestly there might be 1 other team that has a small remote chance, but lets just all assume he’s going to Detroit.
