You gotta catchup here jernster – the Avs basically have 3 – third lines, then a fourth.

On any other team, Jones is a role player, tops. He may score 20, but he’s a defensive liability @ -8 last year and -22 career.

Helm last year was 9 goals @ +5, with +3 career… and is a solid role player.

Sorry J – but the Avs have lost their edge badly and continue to prove it.

Since when is Jones a 3rd line guy? He plays with Stastny and McGinn on the 1st line. When healthy, the Avs have 3 deep lines so it’s silly to label them. Last I checked, 3rd line guys don’t score 20 and 27 goals in back to back season, maybe that’s why he’s making 4m and Helm is making half that. JUST A THOUGHT.

This is a great deal. He may be a 3rd liner but the Wings are a much different team when he is in the line up. The energy he brings and his PK abilities give the Wings a huge lift making him worth every penny.

Excellent deal for both sides. Helm can actually do better on the ice. Time to show it.

Appropriately, the ‘Jones-Avs’ deal keeps getting attention… for obvious negative reasons. Good for Jones, horrible for Avs… Way to pay BIG for that 3rd, 3rd, 3rd line guys – typical Avs right now.
